Landlord and Tenant

The Civil Litigation Department handles litigation between residential landlords and
residential tenants, licensees and trespassers.

We help many council and private tenants whose landlords are taking steps to evict them.
This often involves sorting out housing benefit problems that have led to rent arrears. On
the other side of the coin we can recover possession for private landlords, for breach of a
term of the tenancy agreement, rent arrears or just because the landlord wants his or her property back after the end of the fixed term of the tenancy.

We can also give general advice on the terms of a standard tenancy agreement and draw
one up for you. We can prepare appropriate notices seeking possession and serve them on your tenants for you.

We act for you in all the above from the very preliminary stages right through to
representing you in Court and involvement with the bailiffs.
